Is It The Shoes?

From HangTime

Although not a regular in the physical, Cairns raised CWD has indirectly played a large part in shaping the vision for Hangtime. His razor sharp, uniquely eclectic and dancefloor packing sets (and Dattebayo mixes) became legendary during his Melbourne time of 2005/06/07, shaking Opulent’s monthly Favela Rock party to it’s core and rocking any other jam he could get his happy little mitts in on. Then he moved to the UK and we all made sad panda faces. Then we started Hangtime and naturally asked him to create a mix for everyone to download, throw on this weekend and pretend like it’s 2007 again. Then he graciously wrote us a little blurb to go along with it. So without further ado….

“Basically the way the mix turned out was all my favorite latest dance tunes with a strong UK influence, as this is where I live now, paying homage to the genres that are doing it big over here at the moment”

“My only regret was not letting the Smashsproof track playing longer as I love that song, but after that I slowly build up the vibe, where we reach the Greenmoney (Leo from YoYo) remixes and get into that monster of a track from Ms Dynamite (‘Bad Gyal’ has been killing it at YoYo since November 08), then we really pick up the pace with the new Zinc track ‘Killa Sound’. From then on its big room sounds till we get to the cheeky sample over AJ Scents- Bad Boy, setting it up for X & Hell to do they thing. The Bmore bit is something I always include in my mixes and the baile funk was thrown in as I recently saw DJ Sandrinhno and dude was inspirational. I had to do some funky UK as I’ve never included it in any of my mixes then I pay homage to the garage/2-step era with a couple of tracks as well. I couldn’t have a mix without some Tempz, then into some killer dubstep, slowly chilling out the vibe to bring it to a close we have the Truths and Rights riddim with some Cam’ron for good measure. And to finish it off we have my favorite track of the moment Dre Skull produced ‘Gone Too Far’ with Sizzla doing his thing. I had a real problem trying to fit this in the mix and realized it fitted perfectly as a closer. Not too hype, not too mellow, just right!!”
